Those traveling to Japan this summer should be especially aware of the 70th Anniversary of the atomic bombings at both Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It is amazing and important to see how well both cities are doing now in their different ways, to experience the impressive Peace Parks and memorials directly, and to reflect on the full range of potential futures for our world, as well as the past.

For folks looking for an unusual experience driving across the U.S.: I still remember seeing Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho as a teenager. With family, we ventured down a long ladder into the impressive "Owl" volcanic tube. Emerging at dusk, we witnessed a sunset that has given definition to the phrase "Purple Mountains Majesty" and remained with me 'forever.'
